Open frames and deep structural bodies

Product selection starts with the mounting geometry. Machining capacity and transport planning remain on the dedicated large-part service page.

01

Open frames

Continuous mounting edges connect covers or adjacent equipment; thin spans may require support during machining.

02

Ribbed frames

Internal ribs connect the perimeter to mounting locations while preserving clearance for components.

03

Deep bodies with flanges

An end flange and side openings bring several interfaces into one body. Their datum relationship needs to be explicit.

Project reference

Recommended quotation detailOverall dimensions, material condition, key interfaces, finish and quantity.
Product photo usePhotos illustrate geometry; material grade and performance are defined by the project drawing.

Open frames connect several mounting faces

The photograph shows the actual open structure. Use the drawing to define the mating and locating requirements.

01

Continuous mounting rim

Review the mating surface, hole locations and any cover or adjoining component together.

02

Internal ribs and transitions

Identify the remaining section and clearance needed around ribs and corners.

03

Side-face openings

Define the relationship between side interfaces and the main mounting reference.

Deep cavities and end interfaces

A different structural family, reviewed against its own assembly requirement.

CAVITY & FLANGE

Connect the inner cavity to the flange interface

The supplied part combines a deep cavity, local pockets, side openings and a circular end interface. Review internal access and the relative position of the mounting features.

  • Sections define depth, corner radii and remaining walls.
  • Functional datums connect the flange, holes and faces.
  • Finish, masking and acceptance state follow the order drawing.

Prepare the drawing for your structural part

The photographs identify structures; they do not establish measured dimensions or a universal tolerance.

Part definition
Model and sections, overall dimensions, wall/rib sections and estimated weight.
Mounting relationships
Reference faces, hole locations, adjoining components and functional fits.
Material and finish
Specified alloy/condition, appearance reference and protected interfaces.
Receiving requirements
Inspection state, quantity, delivery split and protective-packing needs.

Questions about frames and structural parts

Begin with the structure and its installation function.

Is every frame a large part?

No. A frame describes the geometry; overall size and setup space determine whether large-part manufacturing review is needed.

Can the dimensions be taken from the photograph?

Use an approved drawing or model. Photographs support discussion of structure, not dimensional acceptance.

Where can I review large-part machining capability?

The separate large-part service page explains the review envelope, workholding, datum transfer and transport considerations.

FEATURES & ACCEPTANCE

Define what matters on your drawing

01

Long mounting edges

Drawing review
Provide overall dimensions and functional mounting references.
Inspection agreement
Agree support points for checking long spans.
02

Multiple assembly interfaces

Drawing review
Review setup changes and references across the structure.
Inspection agreement
Relate hole groups and mating surfaces to agreed datums.
03

Handling and shipment

Drawing review
Identify sensitive edges, lifting needs and packing constraints.
Inspection agreement
Match part identification and protective packaging to the shipment.

Keep the drawing and report connected

Part number and revision → feature and datum → sample and batch → instrument and measured result. Agree the required records with the order.
